Ming Tombs, the graves of Chinese emperors, is located in Tianshou Mountain of Yan Mountain ranges in Changping District which in the northwest of Beijing, and close to Badaling Great Wall. This area became tombs from 7th year of Yongle as Chang Ling to the last emperor Chongzhen Emperor was buried into Si Ling with 230 years. During these 230 years, this area was built 13 emperors tombs, 7 imperial concubine tombs and 1 eunuch tomb including 13 emperors, 23 empresses, 2 prince, over 30 imperial concubines and 1 eunuch in Ming Tombs.

Ming Tombs close to Badaling Great Wall is surrounded by group mountains, the middle plain, and there is a river before Ming Tombs. The 13 tombs were built depending on mountains, which distributed in east, west and north mountains, and shape the graves in complete system, grand scale and magnificent momentum. Ming Tombs close to Badaling Great Wall was listed into World Heritage List in 3rd Jun., 2003.

The building order of Ming Tombs close to Badaling Great Wall is Chang Ling, Xian Ling, Jing Ling, Yu Ling, Mao Ling, Tai Ling, Kang Ling, Yong Ling, Zhao Ling, Ding Ling, Qing Ling, De Ling, and Si Ling. The most famous tombs in Ming Tombs close to Badaling Great Wall are Chang Ling and Ding Ling.

Chang Ling was accomplished in 11th of Yongle, which is the tomb of Zhu Li who is the third emperor in Ming dynasty. Chang Ling is also the earliest and biggest in Ming Tombs. The tall Ming Lou is the mark of Chang Ling.

Ding Ling was built in 12th to 18th of Wanli in Ming dynasty, which is the joint tomb of Zhu Yijun who is the Wanli Emperor, and Xiao Duan and Xiao Jing empresses.

Zhao Ling was built in 17th of Jiajing, which is the tomb Jiajing selected for his father. Because the ministers maintained the feudal system and they opposed to Jiajing Emperor strongly, the project was gave up. The third son of Jiajing Emperor was dead suddenly and there is no tombs for him, so his tomb was built on the old site. Zhao Ling is the tombs with most complete constructions and representation in Ming Tombs close to Badaling Great Wall.
