The North Section is the most heavily visited side of Badaling. It features steep inclines, extensive restoration, and the highest peak.
Most visitors to Badaling head straight for the North Section. This route holds the wall's most famous landmarks and offers clear views across the Jundu Mountains. You will find steep stairs and heavy crowds, especially near the cable car drop-off.
To avoid the worst congestion, arrive at 6:30 AM when the gates open. You can also push past the main viewing areas to find quieter stretches further along the wall.

This is the highest point of the Badaling section, sitting approximately 1,015 meters (3,330 feet) above sea level. The northern cable car drops passengers directly at this tower. Because of the easy access, this area gets extremely crowded. Hike 1.5 to 2 hours from the base or arrive early.
1 hourExit path at Tower 11
This is a steeper extension just past the main cable car drop-off area. It sees far fewer tourists than the lower towers. Walking this section is ideal for escaping the heavy crowds. When you finish, you can use a fast-walking descent path from Tower 11 to exit.

This famous monument features a quote from Mao Zedong. The inscription reads: 'He who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man'. It is a major landmark for domestic tourists. Expect long queues if you want to take a photo next to the stone.
