It is not recommended. The site requires advance online booking using a real-name passport system. Daily capacity is capped at 65,000 visitors. Tickets sell out quickly during peak seasons.
Admission is ¥40 during peak season (April-October). It drops to ¥35 in the off-season (November-March). Minors under 18 and seniors aged 60 and over enter for free.
Yes. The site features an aerial cable car on the North Section and a ground-level funicular on the South Section. These tickets are sold separately from the main entrance fee.

We really enjoyed the tour with our guide Helen. Tiananamen Square and the Forbidden Coty were incredible and we learned loads from Helen who was great :)
Michael was an excellent tour guide. He provided so much information about the historic context and cultural significance of the buildings and features around Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. He also gave us a recommendation for dinner that was delicious. We would highly recommend this tour.
