What is the difference between the North and South sections?

The North side is steep and crowded, while the South side is gentle and quiet.

The North Section climbs to the highest point at 1,015 meters (3,330 feet). It attracts the vast majority of the 65,000 daily allowed visitors. The South Section covers less distance and stays lower. It features a smoother incline and far fewer tourists.

What will I see on the North Section?

You will see famous landmarks like North Tower 8 and the Good Man Stone.

North Tower 8 is known as Hero's Slope. This is the highest tower and the drop-off point for the northern cable car. Expect large crowds here. You will also find the Good Man Stone featuring a famous Mao Zedong quote. Lines for photos are usually long.

If you push past Tower 8, Towers 9 to 12 are steeper. You will see fewer tourists here. You can take a fast-walking path down from Tower 11.
